Cash transfers put families in charge.

CMA sends direct, no-strings-attached financial assistance to families affected by the war. A single transfer can cover food, medicine, warmth, school supplies, or whatever a household decides is most urgent — because the people living through a crisis know best what they need.

Cash closes the gap immediately. There is no procurement cycle, no shipping route, and no customs queue standing between a donation in Cleveland and groceries in Kharkiv that same week. Many recipient households are caring for children, elders, or a loved one who is serving or was injured defending Ukraine.

The programme began in 2014 with the families of the Heavenly Hundred and has continued without interruption through the full-scale invasion. Every transfer is documented and verified through the Veterans Affairs of Ukraine before it is sent.

Heroes Never Stand Alone

Community members gathered at a memorial service for fallen Ukrainian soldiers — Nearly 1,200 families, verified one at a time.

Since 2014, the Cleveland Maidan Association has provided direct financial assistance to the families of fallen Ukrainian soldiers and to families caring for wounded soldiers recovering at home. Nearly 1,200 families have been supported as of 2026, receiving approximately $350,000 in total direct assistance.

Assistance goes to two groups: the families of fallen heroes, and the households absorbing the cost of a wounded service member's long recovery — lost income, travel to rehabilitation, adapted housing, medication that outlasts the hospital stay. All assistance is properly documented and verified through the Veterans Affairs of Ukraine.

CMA has been assisting with several hundred dollars per family, sent directly and spent at the family's own discretion. Sometimes the most powerful way to help is to give people the freedom to help themselves.
