Meet our team.

Dr. Taras Mahlay served as an internist at University Hospitals of Cleveland for more than 30 years and has been active in Cleveland's Ukrainian community throughout his life. Since the 1990s, he has participated in international physician-exchange programs and humanitarian medical efforts. Following Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Dr. Mahlay has focused his volunteer work on procuring medical supplies, delivering resources to medical facilities, and advancing physician and medic training. He is also president of the Ukrainian Museum-Archives in Cleveland and an administrator and instructor at a bandura school in Parma.

Olga Baleshta is a co-founder of Cleveland Maidan Association and has supported Ukraine since the Revolution of Dignity began in 2013–2014. She has been deeply involved in humanitarian, community, and advocacy efforts supporting Ukraine and its people. She also volunteers with the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church of Pokrova and the Ukrainian Catholic Eparchy of St. Josaphat. Her work reflects a long-standing commitment to civic engagement, volunteerism, and Cleveland's Ukrainian-American community.

A Parma resident since 2006, he is a husband, father of three, and longtime community volunteer. He has been an active member of CMA since its founding, serving seven years on the Board, including four years as Treasurer, where he helped oversee the organization’s finances during its significant growth in 2022. He and his family are also active members of Pokrova Church, where he has served on the church board. His service reflects a strong commitment to supporting and strengthening his community.

Andriy Boechko is a finance professional who has also been actively involved in humanitarian support for Ukraine since the Revolution of Dignity in 2014. His volunteer work has included fundraising, veteran outreach, and advocacy.

Pavlo Karpyn is a founding member of Cleveland Maidan Association and served as its first president in 2014. As a board member and logistics coordinator, he has played a central role in the organization's development and oversees the export of donated medical equipment and vehicles to Ukraine. Outside his volunteer work, Pavlo is a business owner with a strong interest in world history and global affairs.

Andriy Voyetskiy is a founding member of Cleveland Maidan Association. He served as CMA president for four years and vice president for eight years and continues to serve on the board. Professionally, Andriy has built a career in aviation and is a captain for a major U.S. airline.

Walter Prokhna is a Ukrainian-American community leader and owner of Lemberg Express Inc., a logistics company based in Strongsville, Ohio. He has been involved with Cleveland Maidan Association since its early years and contributes logistics expertise to CMA's humanitarian work.

Dr. Laura Bukavina is a urologic oncologist at University Hospitals / Case Western Reserve University with extensive experience in surgical oncology. She has volunteered with Cleveland Maidan both through refugee-support efforts and through surgical reconstruction work involving genitourinary trauma in patients affected by war. She also helps coordinate medical-supply delivery to Ukraine, with a focus on expanding access to advanced medical care and sharing reconstructive-surgery expertise with Ukrainian physicians.

Dr. Natalia Fendrikova Mahlay is a physician in vascular medicine at Cleveland Clinic and serves in leadership and medical-education roles. She has participated in physician-exchange programs and educational lectures in Ukraine, supporting knowledge exchange between U.S. and Ukrainian medical professionals.

Natalie Bauman began serving as CMA's U.S. Humanitarian Programs Coordinator in 2023. Her background includes health-disparities research and program management and evaluation. She also works with MedWish Medworks, a CMA partner, and applies her experience to humanitarian programs supporting Ukraine and health systems under strain.
